We had lunch here recently while vacationing in Cuchara. We had originally planned to visit another restaurant but decided on La Veta Loco after reading the great reviews. We were not disappointed! The burgers and fries are amazing and the portions are a bargain for the price. When we visit the area again this will definitely be our restaurant of choice!

I was a little weary at first, but as soon as you walk through the doors that changed. Good atmosphere and clean. Great staff. Reasonably priced. Got the onion pedals and bottle caps for an appetizer. They were great, especially the breading and large portion. For the main course, a green chili cheeseburger with fries. Both were fresh, not frozen and large portion size. Great flavors. So if you are near La Veta, CO this is the stop.

We found this restaurant after being disappointed by another restaurant in town (sat down at a dirty table; no one came to clear the table or give us a menu). A local told us about La Veta Loco, which was great! The food was tasty and portions were generous. My salad was fresh (not from a bag) and served with nice toppings. The service was excellent. We will definitely eat here again!

We ordered the hand made burgers. Both were tough and stringy. The homemade fries were soggy and greasy, not crispy the way they should be. Service was slow. We kept getting up to get things we asked for and were not delivered timely. Could have been so much better.

Visiting La Veta from Texas we were excited to see the selection of good local eats that there is in town. All five in my family ordered different burgers and we can all agree that they were some of the best burgers that we have had. Everything was very fresh including the fries. The service was also very friendly. The atmosphere is pretty decent as well; they have a few TVs and a little bar that seemed to be pretty stocked. They also have a pool table if that's your cup of tea. If you are stopping by La Veta and love a good burger La Veta Loco is the place to go!

Stopped at La Veta Loco on our way back to Denver after someone else had recommended it. So worth it! We got a pizza and some burgers which were delicious! Everything is made from fresh ingredients which makes a noticeable difference. Can't wait to go back!

I'm hesitant to give all five stars usually, but our visit to La Veta Loco tonight was deserving of every one of them. We both chose to order from the dinner menu -- a 6 oz sirloin for me and a 10 oz New York Strip for hubby -- even though other diner's burgers and salads looked wonderful. Both of our dinners came with a beautiful salad, rolls and a choice of taters. The salad dressings are made there and the blue cheese was unbelievable. Both steaks were seasoned well and very tender. Salads were crisp and fresh, rolls were yummy and beer was cold. My sweet potato fries were so tasty and plentiful and his fingerlings buttery and also plentiful. Service was prompt but our waiter didn't hover, always a nice touch. Only glitch--they were out of two of the three listed desserts. La Veta is such a cute little town and I can see why the locals and visitors make La Veta Loco a regular stop. Very clean too!

My Fiancee and I moved here two months ago, and this has become our go to place here in town. I am pretty sure we have come here about a dozen times in two months. The bar is efficiently designed and could keep up with a brisk business. They have about 8 beers on draft, and a decent liquor selection. Unfortunately, it never seems like they have enough customers. The homemade guacamole is the best I have ever had at a restaurant. However, because it is so popular, they seem to run out of it at the most inconvenient times. Their pizza and calzones are very good. My fiancee tells me that the Chili Nachos are to die for. They have a BBQ Burger whose sauce is very good. But I wish that they had some BBQ selections to go along with this great sauce. Maybe some day. But until then, we will continue to visit on a regular basis.

Good: burgers were handmade, pizza hot and cheesy, chips and guacamole was fresh, sitting outside was lovely, French fries were hand cut. Bad: our server was spaced out, looked like he smoked some dope before he showed up for his shift. Sad.

This place was a refreshing change from some of our experiences in Santa Fe dining. We stopped here for lunch on our drive back from Santa Fe. Although slightly off the highway, we loved eating here. Our server was awesome, very friendly and helpful. The salads were large, and made of fresh ingredients. I had a calzone, which was massive, full of cheesy goodness. It may not have been the healthiest lunch I've had in a while, but it was tasty. After getting mostly attitude and bad service in Santa fe, this place was an oasis! We look forward to returning.

We come to the area a lot. This is where we go for good food. Love love the pizza, and the green chili burger was fantastic! Entree Salads were a bit small for the price. Stick with the pizza or burgers. Breakfast was also pretty darn good...pancakes excellent, biscuits and gravy... Good. Our one complaint has been the service, mostly because in such a small town, it is hard to get good reliable help. But the ones there, try hard. Just be prepared for a longer wait. I haven't had the desserts yet, but I hear they're good...from family recipes. Update...service has been much better this summer! Loved their breakfast, but our waitress told us that breakfast has been discontinued for awhile. I hope they bring it back sometime. The skillet breakfasts were wonderful!
